#SelfCare | Interview with Sistah Yaya Love of Soul Tribe Heals

The industry has been flourishing with different types of strains and compounds being discovered that benefit a variety of purposes.

In traditional Caribbean culture, people would gather herbs as a form of healing. They would gather various types of flowers, leaves, and roots to make a tea or a liquid concoction to help cure various physical, mental, and spiritual ailments.

It is well known that cannabis was introduced to the Caribbean by African slaves and East Indian laborers who brought with them their knowledge of the plant. This knowledge was quickly absorbed by those in the Caribbean and many new traditions and customs were created.

That’s why I am super excited to be interviewing Afro-Caribbean Traditional Herbal and Spiritual Healer Sistah Yaya Love of Soul Tribe Heals!

Want to learn more about the power of plants? This article is for you.

Let’s Get Lifted!

Drops or salve; Why?

Drops for sure! I enjoy the immediate effect I get from the sublingual application. Sometimes when I manage many projects, I am not aware when I need extra pain relief support, so when I take the drops, they know exactly what to do and where to go!

If you could be a cannabis superhero, who would you be?

Funny you asked this question. I would be Grand Nanny, the Queen of the Maroons of Jamaica. She used her spiritual gifts and knowledge of herbs and natural medicine to not only heal her people but to fight off the invaders that threatened her people, land, and culture. In addition, she made sure that future generations would have land to live and sustain their families. I would definitely be her!!

“You must thank everything in your life. Because it is perfect.”

Sistah Yaya

Dab into Business!

How did you get started Soul Tribe Heals and why?

I was born into this healing tradition. My mom is Jamaican and is an oracle, seer, and spiritualist. My dad is Haitian, and we have heavy ties to spiritual and healing traditions of the Caribbean, in addition to a Pentecostal upbringing. So to ask when I started, I came to Earth with this gift and developed it over time.

There were times when I walked away from it to pursue other careers such as finance, modeling, charities, and more, but I always came back. When I was pregnant with my second child, I decided I didn’t want to work a job anymore. The rest and income that I wanted were not going to come from a job, so together in 2018 with my Spirit Team, we created Soul Tribe Heals.

What’s your niche and how did you find it?

Interesting question. When we were children, my grandfather used to make us Cannabis tea – it would help us sleep better, so I always had an awareness of its healing power. My niche in using this sacred herb is Spiritual Healing or Energy Healing.

My focus is on the healing effects of Cannabis to reach self-forgiveness, love, grace, and ease. I also focus on using Cannabis in helping to manifest as well.

In addition, I use it with other herbs to help improve the mind.

What are some talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you transferred to Cannabis?

Yes, I took my knowledge of Kromanti herbal medicine and applied it to the use of Cannabis. I also have a background in Public Health, so I spent a lot of time studying how this plant can help others heal themselves.

Since I speak several languages, I have had the fortune of working with other healers worldwide about the uses of Cannabis and how we can help others with this collective knowledge. And with my background in business and finance, we have been able to build a solid business model, helping spread the word about this sacred herb.

What are some talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you have picked up while in the space?

I have learned greater patience, love, and appreciation since really getting into Cannabis. I have learned how to open my heart be receptive and honest. These are some of the intrinsic things I picked up with Cannabis, and I have picked up amazing friends along the way.

Which tech tools did you use to start your Soul Tribe Heals?

I am NOT a tech person at all! I started this business 100% using Facebook. Later on, I got on IG, then YouTube (with much resistance, I’m still old school), and now we have a website – soultribeheals.com

How does Soul Tribe Heals stand out from other brands within your target population?

Our Company is based on the Healing Traditions of the Maroons of the Caribbean. Kromanti or Kromantism is our Spiritual Science. Our brand stands out because we are based on OUR own unique culture and ways of doing things. In addition, we have many testimonies of people helping themselves to be healed in their minds, bodies, and souls.

We practice many of the traditions the way our Ancestors did.. we remember them, and they remember us. We remain close to our culture, values, and morals, which makes all the difference.

Tell us about your top product or service.

Caribbean Healing & Herbalism 101

Caribbean Traditional Healing has its roots in both Herbs and Magic. This is especially true for the Maroons (Community of Indigenous People that banned their energies together) of the Caribbean.

They are those who have escaped enslavement (of mind, body, soul, and Spirit) and fled into the mountains and forests to live in freedom and independence.

The heart of Maroonage lies the essence of Kromanti, or Spirit Language, that is, a collection of the most effective Spiritual Practices during times of birth, marriage, divorce, war, peace, and more.

Kromanti comprises a vast array of methods and practices, allowing the individual and community to connect to their highest self, heal and transcend their circumstances.

This course intends to share Traditional Maroonage Medicine and Practices that have assisted us for generations to heal and renew the body, mind, and soul.

From our perspective, herbs and magic go hand in hand, and we learned how to see, speak and work with plants to invoke their magical essence to heal ourselves and our environment.

What Can You Expect to Learn:

  • Various Caribbean plants, roots, and barks & their uses.
  • Kromanti Chakras System and Energies/Herbs that govern them

Pass it Around!

What have been some of the highlights of marketing your Soul Tribe Heals?

We focus on Kromanti Healing, which is not widely known. We focus on our culture, healing, and our values.

What have been some of your challenges?

Since we are not widely known, we have to educate people about who we are. This takes time and patience, and it takes time for people to get to know us.

And since I am not tech-savvy, I spend a lot of energy to find effective ways to market – this is a challenge for me as I like to focus on my craft.

What’s the silver lining to it all?

That I am doing the work of my Ancestors.

What are some best practices for advertising Soul Tribe Heals?

Be consistent. Lead with your heart in whatever you put out for the world to see. Work social media as much as possible. Gather email addresses and contact your people often.

What are some best practices for growing an audience on social media?

Talk to them. Be authentic. Share your life. Let them know that you are human. That you care about them – always let them know that you love and care about them.

Forget trying to look perfect and polished – throw that away. Be yourself!

What’s some advice you have for folks that want to enter the space?

Do it! Don’t wait. If the Spirit is calling you into this space, then the Divine will make way to happen. Focus on the lessons Cannabis has taught you – follow your heart!

Louisiana-born Chris Marks of Your Cyber Guide always wanted to work in cyber security. He shares with us that he didn’t know of a degree program for cyber security where he was from. So, he went to college, graduated, then took it upon himself to learn the skills on his own and become an expert in the field.

Chris advocates for increasing the black and brown presence in the industry while building security awareness for the green industry. People don’t look like me. So I feel that people are trying to get just dispensaries. There are other things in this green industry that we can do if you don’t want to own a dispensary. We’re talking about creating an ecosystem.

He’s now in Dallas, Texas working with small-to-medium-size cannabis companies, trying to find people who need or might not even know they need to talk security. Chris asks business owners the tough questions like:

  • Are your people on your register logging in with one password? If so, why?
  • Do you have an acceptable usage policy to know what they can work on and what they can not use on your internet?

#THC2021 | Interview with Nikita Seal, Owner of Pretty Rolls™

In this week’s post, we’re highlighting Nikita Seal, the owner of Pretty Rolls™. She shares with us that she didn’t know how to roll a joint, so it inspired her to bring luxury to the smoking experience for the “feminine” smoker by launching her own pre-rolled cone brand.

Fire it Up!

Tell us about Pretty Rolls™ and how you got started.

I’m a smoker who can’t roll a proper joint to save my life. So, I started using cones and had the idea to start my own pre-rolled cone company. Therefore Pretty Rolls was born.

Pretty Rolls is a play on words (Pre-Rolls). Pretty Rolls™ is not just a company that sells cones; we create luxury experiences for feminine smokers. We host private parties such as Puffin in the Park, Blunts, and Brunch, and our next event will be blunts and yoga.

What motivated Pretty Rolls™ to travel to The Texas Hemp Convention?

Although this was my first one, it only felt right to get my feet wet and be a part of this convention. Second, to meet so many people worldwide in this industry in one place was a no-brainer.

Tell us about your top-selling product or services.

Our top-selling product is our cones. They are slow-burning, with no runs or tears. Pretty Rolls™ are made of rice paper and natural dye which gives them that pretty pink color.

Pretty Rolls Mobile billboard

What were some challenges you faced entering the cannabis space?

Social media is banning my page and all the censorship. Also certain  family members not being supportive initially due to their judgmental way of thinking.

How do you maintain a positive outlook through it all?

I’m a naturally optimistic person. However, I meditate, pray and do a lot of self-care to keep myself grounded in the reality that I choose.

The fact that I choose is the one where everything always works out for me at the end. Even when the outcome is not the one I would have chosen.

Let’s Get Lit!

What have been some of your best practices for promoting Pretty Rolls™?

My best practice is to be authentically me and share the journey with my supporters. In a world filled with so many fakes and illusions. Real people respect REAL.

Pretty Rolls

What do you hope people take away from Pretty Rolls™ after leaving the convention?

I hope that people see that black women in this industry are here, we’re here to stay and more of us are on our way.

What would you like to see more of at the convention?

I would love to see more people of color in this space.

SHOP PRETTY ROLLS THIS SEASON!

What’s some advice for folks that want to get in the industry?

Know the laws and connect with everyone you can in this industry. People in this industry are some of the coolest people you’ll ever meet.

Nikita Seal

Pass It Around!

What’s next for Pretty Rolls™?

I see Pretty Rolls as a global brand in every smoke shop worldwide. Next year, I plan to tour, host our private parties, and spread pink love to everyone I meet.

#THC2021 | Interview with Troy, Creator of The Crazy World of Roach & Budd

L.T. Mock aka (Troy) , the creator of Dallas, Texas-based The Crazy World of Roach & Budd, brings his hilarious cartoon idea to the cannabis space. However, it is about more than illustrations, the Roach & Budd family brings love, laughter, and light to the cannabis industry.

Fire it Up!

Tell us about The Crazy World of Roach & Budd and how you got started.

The Roach & Budd brand started as a funny cartoon idea – The Crazy World of Roach & Budd. After years of planning and preparation with storylines and character development, we finally got the ball rolling. I began with a few designs that I would eventually turn into comic strips, The Roach & Budd “Chronicles”. After a few years of promoting and selling merchandise to help boost awareness, the brand grew. It was time to take the next step and bring the characters to life.

It took several attempts to find the right look as close to my vision as possible, but it finally came together. I went with my sound/production crew to record voiceover/sound for the Animation into the studio. It took a few hours…. and a couple of weeks, lol, to construct our first short episode.

Innovative work and dedication will take you a long way. The first episode has yet to be released,  but you can find clips via our social media sites/YouTube (Roach & Budd TV) as well as our website www.roachandbudd.com.

The actual release date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s estimated to be the first quarter of 2022.

What motivated The Crazy World of Roach & Budd to travel to The Texas Hemp Convention?

I am a Texas native born and raised, and I have been in the hemp industry for years now. I’m still learning and understanding what all it has to offer. I attended the first hemp convention to see what it was all about.

Then, this year they reached out to me to be a vendor and ended up a sponsor.

Texas Hemp Convention 2021

Tell us The Crazy World of Roach & Budd’s top-selling product or service.

The top-selling product would be stickers and our Nurse Sweetie T-shirts. And, the top-selling service would be the Pothead Mascot. Everyone wants to chill with Pothead!

We get a lot of requests for him to make an appearance while I get to sign posters and meet our supporters.

What were some challenges you faced entering the cannabis space?

Not to play the race card, but being a Black man in the cannabis industry is tough. You see what’s going on in the world, and it’s like adding fuel to the fire.

I have had my encounters, but thankfully I have been blessed to see different turnouts my condolences  to victims who weren’t as lucky as I was., may they RIP.

The cannabis industry is such a fun market. The people are kool and the energy is different from what I’m used to. But understanding the laws from state to state can be a bit of a challenge since they are constantly changing.

Not getting the initial support from most of your family or peers was a good one. People looked at me and kind of laughed since I’m always joking and playing, and I guess they didn’t take the idea seriously. I can also say some weren’t too thrilled at me joining the cannabis world.

How do you maintain a positive outlook through it all?

I like to be an example to my children as they grow as well as others. The universe has a funny way of aligning us with our purpose and showing us things, and teaching us stuff through failure and falling on the way.

Things on a day-to-day may not go your way, but sometimes if you are patient enough and strong enough to endure whatever life throws at you at those moments, you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. And, even still, you have to focus and lean on your determination and faith to get to where you vision yourself to be.

Knowing that you will be stronger and very much prepared to overcome whatever comes after you reach the light.

I could go on and on.

Let’s Get Lit!

What have been some of your best practices for promoting The Crazy World of Roach & Budd?

  1. Going to different events and meeting people face to face. I love to see everyone’s reaction to the the brand as a whole
  2. The Animation clips are super dope. People love to see the characters in action.
  3. Aligning with the right people who have good intentions and love to spread the word.
  4. The music behind Roach & Budd allows us to be free ranged and enjoy the fun of creating at a HIGH level. “pun intended” LOL. It also gives us a chance to reach other artists with dope music that are interested in being involved in something special.

What do you hope people take away from The Crazy World of Roach & Budd after they leave the convention?

That we aren’t just any brand, we are a family. Above all else, we wish to bring light to the cannabis industry and break these stigmas. Helping to do our part in the fight.

We encourage others to not be afraid and to educate and medicate themselves naturally in a time where the use of opioids is rapidly increasing. Letting them know what’s behind the brand, fully functioning on love, great energy, and bringing people together.

But I do it the best way I know how by laughter and entertainment.

What would you like to see more of at the convention?

Education on the different laws and how to protect themselves if needed. Best strains for specific ailments and how they help fight certain symptoms.

The Crazy World of Roach & Budd

The Crazy World of Roach & Budd
roachandbudd.com

What’s some advice for folks that want to get in the industry?

Educate yourself the best you can and don’t be afraid of not knowing. You never know who or how you help someone by enlightening yourself.

Don’t get overwhelmed by all the propaganda.

Pass It Around!

What’s next for The Crazy World of Roach & Budd?

Getting the world more acquainted with the brand. Getting the cartoon to new levels and putting myself and others in better positions to help and make a difference somehow.

How can people reach you?

Several ways social media Instagram @roachandbudd_official or via email roachandbuddmedia@gmail.com.

#Relevnt | An Interview with Peter Labat IV, Owner of The Labat Wood Shop

Chicago-based The Labat Wood Shop owner,  Peter Labat IV loves to work on his woodworking, so much so that he’s turned it into a thriving business. He began storing projects that looked amazing, affordable, and easy on Pinterest in 2016. Soon, Peter was into various woodworking like carvings and furniture.

“The thing that captivated me about woodworking, is that it could be both beautiful and functional.”

Peter Labat IV

He started by making things for his home and gradually collecting tools. He spent four years perfecting his woodworking craft then in 2020, Peter lost his job as a navigational watch officer in the Gulf of Mexico.

Instantly he knew he’d be starting his own furniture company. Thus, The Labat Wood Shop was born.

The Labat Wood Shop

Let’s Get Lifted!

Drops or salve; Why?

I’m embarrassed to admit I haven’t had either. We don’t get many of these options in New Orleans, and I imagine it’s the same way in other places where cannabis isn’t legal. I’m hoping that as my business grows into stronger cannabis marketplaces, I’ll get to try things like this.

If you could be a cannabis superhero, who would you be?

I think I would be ‘Super Chill”. A guy who can make everyone sit down and be quiet haha. I love peace, quiet, tranquility, and calm. I hate commotion, chaos, and confusion.

What are your top 2 smoking songs?

This might be the hardest question. Curren$y is my favorite canna-rapper and one of my top of 5 overall favorites. His whole library is filled with smoking hits. But the two most acclaimed are Famous – from Pilot Talk 2 and Surface to Air from the How Fly mixtape with Wiz Khalifa

Dab into Business!

How did The Labat Wood Shop get started?

So, The Labat Wood Shop is a woodworking company first and foremost. We specialize in custom furniture building and design; it just so happens that our signature product is a premium rolling tray made from exotic hardwood. So we are not necessarily a cannabis brand. We’re more cannabis adjacent.

I started woodworking as a hobby in 2014. I loved how versatile and creative you could be with wood. You can carve and sculpt it to make artwork or use it to build furniture. You can paint it, stain it, toggle between classic and vintage styles, build coasters to houses, and everything in between.

I had already fallen in love with the craft, and planned to monetize it in some way before the pandemic. So when I got laid off from my job due to Covid, I already knew that I’d be starting a woodworking company. Now here we are, still charging ahead, trying to stay afloat!

RELATED: #Relevnt | An Interview with Tracey Schultz, Owner of PuffN Pretty

Describe your niche in the cannabis space.

As I said, our signature product is a premium rolling tray made from exotic hardwood, but it’s much more than that; it’s a Companion! See, your typical rolling tray is made from cheap, thin metal easily dented or damaged and has those goofy Scooby-Doo graphics printed on it.

That might be cool when you’re in college, but not when you’re a seasoned stoner. Most avid cannabis users are grown-ups, businessmen, and women who are working professionals and even have kids. No one who pays a mortgage should have to roll their flower on one of those goofy trays. We offer a more mature option to the marketplace.

We named it the Companion to show people that this is a LIFETIME smoking accessory. The last rolling tray you’ll ever need. We all cherish those moments when we finally sit down to roll up. Whether it’s the wake and bake or the nightcap, and when you pull out your one-of-a-kind smoking Companion, it makes that moment even more special!

Did you face any legal or criminal barriers to cannabis entry? If so, how did you overcome the barriers?

Thankfully, I’ve never faced any issues like this. The closest criminal encounter I’ve had was being busted hotboxing in my homeboy’s car down the road from our college. We saw the police car rolling upon us so I hurried up and swallowed the blunt.

The cop told us to exit the car, and when we did, of course, hella smoke poured out, but there was nothing left for him to find. He asked us what we were doing here, and we told him we were students. He just told us to go and never come back. We were so shook I think we quit smoking for about a week haha.

WHAT ARE SOME TALENTS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE that YOU have TRANSFERRED TO CANNABIS?

I think I’m a very sociable person! I enjoy conversing with people about interesting topics. Hobbies, jobs, life, and whatever gets us both excited enough to truly engage with one another.

I’ve always been organized and structured though as well. So I know how to use my time wisely, accomplish tasks, and stay productive.

WHAT ARE SOME TALENTS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE that YOU Have PICKED UP WHILE IN CANNABIS?

How to be a salesman! I’ve had to really sharpen my sales skills since being in business. Knowing how to talk to customers, tell them what they want to hear, and explain my company and product well. Learning where to find customers and how to attract them.

Which tech tools did you use to start The Labat Wood Shop?

  • Wix for my website
  • Quickbooks for bookkeeping
  • Instagram and Facebook for marketing/sales.
  • Getting into Tik Tok now.
  • Inshot for photo/video editing

How does The Labat Wood Shop stand out from other brands within your target population?

The Labat Wood Shop stands out as a brand because there aren’t any household woodworking brands inside the cannabis space that I’m aware of. Raw makes wooden rolling trays, yes, but not out of exotic wood, and their trays don’t tell a story or have a name like ours do!

For them, it’s just another product in their line, and that’s okay. We want to be a household name for wooden rolling trays inside the cannabis space. What Raw is to rolling papers, we want to be to rolling trays.

I’m a woodworking enthusiast, so I’m more passionate about woodworking than cannabis, and I think that’s what makes us unique.

Tell us about The Labat Wood Shop’s top products and services.

Our signature product is The Companion, a premium rolling tray made from exotic hardwoods such as maple, African Mahogany, and walnut, just to name a few. Each Companion is completely unique because no two trays have the same grain, just like no two people have the same fingerprint.

It’s a classier/more mature option than the rolling trays you see on the market, and every hardworking, seasoned smoker should have a premium rolling tray in their collection. They’re built to last a lifetime, so you’ll literally use them every day.

The Labat Wood Shop

Pass it Around!

What have been some highlights with marketing The Labat Wood Shop?

Actually getting recognized! We’ve been on the front page of the newspaper, interviewed by blogs and great organizations, I’ve been recognized in the street by people who follow our Instagram, and have made some really great new friendships on social media as well.

All of it is extremely wonderful, and we couldn’t be more grateful! We take advantage of every opportunity we possibly can to network and grow our brand.

What have been some challenges THE LABAT WOOD SHOP has faced with marketing?

Actually making sales!! Actually generating revenue!! I think a lot of people like our product, but we’re just not seeing the numbers. We don’t have enough outreach! Not enough people are seeing us, and when they do see us, I don’t think we present like a “company.”

I think we present ourselves as an artist/woodworker/small business. But we have a lot of “irons in the fire.” There’s a lot of momentum generating, and we’re expecting a really big boost in November and December. The holidays will obviously be huge, but we’ve also got the Black Cannabis Conference in November, and I am 100% confident that we will meet the people who will help catapult us to the next level!!

SHOP THE LABAT WOOD SHOP FOR THE HOLIDAYS

What’s The Labat Wood Shop’s silver lining to it all?

Knowing that if you push through, you will succeed!! You gotta go through the grit and grind to come out on top.

The Labat Wood Shop

What are some best practices for advertising The Labat Wood Shop?

We don’t advertise well. So we rely solely on social media posting for advertising. We haven’t fully implemented our budget yet, so we don’t run “ads”; we just post. And we don’t really post strategically. We just…post. Our real advertising strategy is about tapping into influencers.

We will definitely skyrocket if we can get our trays to Curren$y, Wiz, and Snoop.

What are some best practices for growing your audience on social media?

I wish I knew. Nothing I do seems to work, lol. I just be pouring my Lil heart into those reels. Still waiting for one to go viral.

What’s some advice you have for folks that want to enter the space?1 response
Find your niche and dig into it. There are so many people going into business. Not just cannabis, all businesses.

If you want to set yourself apart, you have to brand, and branding is nothing more than telling your story.

Dab into Business!

How did you get started; why?

I was ready to change the trajectory of my life. I was beyond bored with corporate, so I started researching how to start my own business. I kept getting signs that I needed a business that ignited a fire and sparked my passion. I knew the universe would guide me….so cannabis it was.

What’s your niche in the cannabis space? Why?

I help women elevate their wellness with cannabis. I connect them to quality flowers, support their well-being, and inspire them to elevate to their highest potential. I feel cannabis has allowed me to be more comfortable on my healing journey, and as a healer, I wanted to remove the stigma of cannabis use for other women.

Founder and CEO Tracey Schultz is an African-American woman and an advocate for cannabis. She adds a unique perspective to the industry because she uses cannabis to manage her multiple sclerosis symptoms. Queen Tracey is determined to show up in the industry as her best self, dedicated to total well-being with two princesses as her motivation.

Did you face any legal or criminal barriers to cannabis entry? If so, how did you overcome the barriers?

No

What are some talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you picked up while in cannabis?

Every day I’m learning a new way of doing things in the marketplace. I’m a business processor analyst, so I’m curious about how the industry works. I research, question, and analyze the corporate setup and the laws in which they can operate as a business. I think it’s important to know the laws. When you know how it works then, you learn how to move properly.

What tech tools did you use to start your brand?

Social media- google research, YouTube.

How do you stand out from other brands within your target population?

Actually, I’m still working on that. My focus is connecting to the women and not solely selling to women. I want to educate about the benefits cannabis can provide to those wanting holistic relief to their health issues.

Tell us about your top-selling, promotional, or new product or service.

Puffn Pretty's purpose is to support and help change the stigmas around women who smoke weed. They want women who smoke to feel comfortable and confident in their decision and free from judgment's stigma.

Pass it Around!

What have been some of the highlights of marketing your brand? Example.

Meeting like-minded beings

What have been some of the challenges you have faced with marketing your brand? Example.

The “machine.” Nikki Minaj has a verse in her song “seeing green” that goes like…” no one bitch could be my oops that shit offends me; it’s the corporate giants and machine that went against me. I felt her on that. Algorithms and corporate policies have been brutal. On top of that, I also get in my own way.

What’s your silver lining to challenges?

The caves in which we fear to enter holds the very treasure we seek to find…..and so I keep going.

What are some best practices for advertising your brand?

Networking

What are some best practices for growing your audience on social media?

Consistent posting and replying back to people in the comments

What’s some advice you have for folks that want to enter the space?

Research the industry and network with people in the industry. Balance is key

Dab into Business!

How did you get started; why?

My health journey brought me to cannabis. Once I realized that cannabis saved my life, the passion for talking about the plant and my health journey was overwhelming.

I started by creating a nonprofit to educate people about proper health and wellness and improve access to cannabis and other alternative health methods. We did this for six years, closing in 2021 due to the pandemic.

I have continued to create my show, The Wendy Love Edge Show, and I am now building the Wendy Love Edge Brand.

What’s your niche in the cannabis space? Why?

Healer, Educator, and Support to Patients. I think my passion for the plant, coupled with my health journey, has created a space for me. Or maybe I made it by marrying these things authentically.

No.

Your talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you transferred to cannabis?

I worked in mainstream medicine for 25 years where I learned to multitask and coordinate people and things. I also learned to manage and lead a team to achieve success. In my jobs, over the years, I also provided a lot of education. All of the stills transferred to what I’m doing now.

Media, Film, Radio, Event Planning, Product Creation

My show is probably the top-selling product. I am still working out the details of the rest.

#Relevnt | An Interview with Cintia Morales, Co-Founder of Higher Education Hemp Tours

In this weeks podcast, we interviewed Cintia Morales Co-Founder of Austin, Texas based Higher Education Hemp Tours. We talk about how Hemp Tours came about, why she’s fighting to educate people, and her thoughts on cannabis marketing.

Let’s Get Lifted!

Drops or salve; Why?

Salves, bc I can apply it on almost anything!

If you could be a cannabis superhero, who would you be?

Tejana Terpenes

What are your top 2 smoking songs?

Any Dre & Snoop song has my vote.

Dab into Business!

How did Higher Education Hemp Tours get started; why?

In 2018, I was at a crossroads with my career and decided to take a break. At that time, my friend/business partner Leah, was going through something similar. Seeing that I was on a break, I decided to accompany her to Kentucky to learn more about hemp. As a result, we realized that we wanted to be in the space.

After the 2019 Texas Hemp Bill passed, and we were able to start realizing this dream.

We followed our strong suites (teaching and business consulting) to create Higher Education Hemp Tours – an educational consulting team for new consumers and entrepreneurs in the industry.

Need Access to MMJ Treatment? Click Here.

What’s Higher Education Hemp Tours’ niche in the cannabis space? Why?

Education & Consulting. We call it EduTainment. In other words, we curate unique experiences, and educational materials for consumers and brands. We do not sell any products.

Did you face any legal or criminal barriers to cannabis entry?

Just the normal legal barriers with our legal team and accountant team trying to explain the space. And, having our process payment shut down time and time again because our customers are cannabis businesses.

What are some talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you transferred to cannabis.

Teaching! That has been my passion for years. I have been an educator for over 15 years now and luckily that has been an easy transition to this.

What are some talents, skills, experience, and knowledge you picked up while in the cannabis space?

I’ve genuinely picked up having and setting boundaries. Unfortunately not everyone in the industry is here to help out the community and only really want to help themselves. I’ve learned to say no to the right people.

What tech tools did you use to start Higher Education Hemp Tours?

Sooooo many; where do we begin. For our online courses, we use the Teachable platform. We use Clickfunnels for our website. In addition, we use Canva, Later, Flowpage, and MailChimp to create content.

How does Higher Education Hemp Tours stand out from other brands within your target population?

Currently, we do not see many people doing what we are doing, so that is one way of standing out. However, the best way is that we work with Verified brands. Higher Education Hemp tours makes sure that the brands we present to the community, follow the following 5 things minimum:

1) License: Reseller certificate and hemp license (if applicable)

2) Insurance: General Liability /Product Liability

3) Lab Testing: if retailing cannabinoid products, 3rd party full panel COAs available on request (if applicable)

4) Quality Products: no artificial additives or ingredients in products you manufacture or retail

5) Attitude: a commitment to the future of the hemp industry

Tell us about Higher Education Hemp Tours’ top selling, promotional, or new product or service.

Our Top consulting service is our Inner Circle Business Builder. And our top event so far has been our SUP summer series: Stand up & Smoke.

Pass it Around!

What have been some of the highlights of marketing Higher Education Hemp Tours? Example.

Cross-marketing with some of the leaders in the industry has worked best. We have spoken at a variety of Cannabis and Hemp expos so being able to promote ourselves to our market with them has worked out great. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of restrictions when it comes to normal marketing strategies.

What have been some of the challenges Higher Education Hemp Tours faced with marketing?

Even though Higher Ed Hemp Tours are not “plant touching” we are still flagged in all socials and are not able to market like a normal business.

Related Topic: Here’s What No One Tells You About Online Dispensaries

What’s Higher Education Hemp Tours silver lining to challenges?

The silver lining is that it has forced us to think of ways to DIRECTLY communicate with our target audience, so we have switched to a lot more collaborations and content creating in a variety of platforms.

What are some best practices for advertising your brand?

Since we are not plant touching, and our focus is educating, we have teamed up and collaborated with already on going events that don’t have to do with cannabis or hemp. That 1) helps us reach a new audience 2)allows us to directly connect with new people.

What are some best practices for growing your audience on social media?

Be strategic, authentic, and smart about what you post. Make sure you are aware of the banned hashtags and wordings from some social media platforms. Also, tag and comment as much as you can! Interaction is key!

What’s some advice you have for folks that want to enter the space?

Take a look at the supply chain, the ENTIRE SUPPLY CHAIN, and see where your expertise would fit! Don’t try to do something you have never done without having the right team or people around you that can support and advise .

Do have you any specials, giveaways, discounts you’d like to share?
